Adam Johnson hails from Chicago, IL, and true to his town came up listening to a lot of blues and blues-influenced music. His influences range in era from the greats like Freddie King, B.B. King and Buddy Guy, to more contemporary artist like Tommy Castro and Bernard Allison. Johnson ventured south to Nashville during his college years and got his first taste of country music at places like Tootsie’s and Printer’s Alley. After moving down the line to Austin, Adam met up with Billy Garza and started to meld his blues roots with Garza’s country and blues stylings, injecting a little bit of low-down-and-dirty into the country! Multi-instrumentalist Ted LeVieux is the tall, skinny one who plays the upright bass and sit down pedal steel whenever possible. An integral and inspirational part of the band, LeVieux keeps one eye on Billy and the other on the drummer. Playing bass for a country band may not be where the glamour is, but he's quite content to leave all that for the front men--he's just happy to be playing the music and holding the groove. Robin Quick, "The Fiddler", began playing violin in 4th grade orchestra and continued his regimen of practicing and learning through high school. Once "country fiddle" took the reigns of his interest,
Robin began playing in various Dallas area venues as an "Old West" fiddle player (six guns and all)
and made appearances with the likes of Jerry Jeff Walker and Charlie Daniels. Ryan Beverly, aka "The Bev", "Bevster", and "Bevelicious", graduated from the University of Texas with a concentration in music. Playing on the drumline for UT was a great foundation for the building blocks of his drumming future. With diversified interests and various influences, Beverly, with meticulous articulation and focus, maintains the downbeat, upbeat and every beat in between as a member of the 40 Guns band with Billy Garza. Self-taught bass player and log home builder Greg Jordan rounds out the band. Playing music from age 9 segued into Moores School of Music at the University of Houston playing primary percussion. After diverse musical directions such as afro-cuban, blues, zydeco and rock, Jordan established roots in country music with Billy Garza and his band 40 Guns and seems to feel quite at home. |
